Case study
Beau’s Rescue
Found by dog walkers and reported to RSPCA Inspectors, poor Beau had been cable-tied and dumped in a park. When the cat arrived at the RSPCA shelter clinic, his feet were in bad condition, bright red and swollen with wounds where the cable ties had dug into them.
He was prescribed pain relief, anti-inflammatories to reduce swelling and antibiotics to stave off infection. Each day, as part of his treatment, the RSPCA team gently bathed his paws in warm saline solution.
After a week they had healed enough to be bandaged, with manuka honey applied to aid the healing process. At first hesitant about his feet being touched, Beau was happy to be distracted with head rubs. After two months in our care he was adopted into a loving new home.
